A winter wonderland in Ocean Grove – your ultimate itinerary

Welcome to Ocean Grove, where winter transforms the coastline into a sanctuary waiting to be explored. While summer may be the time for sun-kissed beaches and lazy days, winter whispers its own magic along the shores of Victoria’s Bellarine Peninsula. So, grab your coat and your scarves and let’s explore a weekend in Ocean Grove during the cooler months!

Day 1

Getting there:

Gather your besties, books and board games, pack the car and feel the worries of your day disappear as you drive down the coast to your accommodation.

Find the perfect accommodation with Ocean Edge Holiday Rentals. Enjoy a array of stunning houses for you to choose from, some are even dog friendly, so you don’t have to leave your best mate behind.

If you need more space or something more specific Ocean Edge Holiday Rentals has an array of stunning houses for you to choose from, some are even dog friendly, so you don’t have to leave your best mate behind.

Dinner:

As the sun sets over the horizon, our Ocean Grove escapade begins with a reservation at The Dunes.

Set against the backdrop of rolling waves, settle into your table, and your evening kicks off with a round of cocktails – classics like the Pornstar Martini and a Negroni will get the party started. For dinner, The Dunes caters to every palate, offering vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan options.

It’s the perfect way to really embrace the weekend ahead.

Day 2

Morning:

If you’re game, start your day with a refreshing winter swim in the Barwon River. The cold water experience is becoming extremely popular as people all over the world rave about benefits like, improved immune systems, natural highs and better hair and skin – sounds like a free day spa package, if you can brave the cold.

Mid-morning:

Head to My Bellarine Kitchen to pick up some sweet treats for your getaway. With the highest-quality ingredients (found locally whenever possible), everything is made by hand by Gabi, a trained pastry chef with over 25 years of experience in the business. Gabi shares with you her love of homemade baked goods prepared with enthusiasm, attention to detail, and a touch of expertise.

Next:

Discover the quaint streets of Ocean Grove, home to galleries and boutique stores. There is much to find, including unusual artwork and humorous mementos. Make sure to visit Wish Fish, Ocean Grove’s cutest tiny store for gifts and home goods.

On your way to lunch, stop at The Hive Gallery, which is the exclusive location of Willie Wildlife Sculptures and has a growing collection of over 45 carefully chosen Australian artists.

Lunch, or wine o’clock:

Off to Oakdene Vineyards for wine and lunch. Take some time to stroll around the grounds, where you’ll find interesting landscaping and a variety of unique artwork. The best part—a wine tasting at their cellar door—which is an upside-down house—comes next. You’ll catch a glimpse of the rich history of winemaking in the area with every taste.

Then it’s lunch at Flying Brick Cider House. Think tasting paddles, amazing food, and some of the Bellarine’s best wines, all set on a green, innovative space. Choose from smaller plate options such as Korean fried cauliflower, pan seared tiger prawns or mountain pepper squid. Larger plates include char-boiled eggplant, eye fillet steak and slow-cooked Leura lamb shoulder.

Afternoon:

After lunch, head back to your accommodation and enjoy a regional platter of goods that you’ve picked up from Wallington’s Pantry on your way home from lunch and RELAX!

Early evening:

Head back into the heart of Ocean Grove and visit the intimate Covenant Wine Bar. They often have live music and good vibes, so it’s the perfect way to end your day. If you’re still looking for some dinner here’s some great places to check out…

Day 3

Morning:

If you’re feeling adventurous, try your hand at fishing off Barwon Heads Bridge or take a leisurely stroll along The Bluff in Barwon Heads.

Home time:

It’s time to return home as, regrettably, wonderful things must come to an end. Remember to grab some delicious pastries from Ket Baker for the drive home.
