Divided by the mouth of the Barwon River, Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads are the quintessential twin towns of The Bellarine. The roar of the surf, the ocean breezes, the coastal town vibe and all surrounded by the food, wine and attractions of The Bellarine make it pretty hard to beat.
Families swim in the shallows of the inlet or at Ocean Grove Main Beach, while serious surfers spend time at nearby 13th Beach where the waves pound in from Bass Strait.
Some of The Bellarine’s favourite places to eat combine with some of the best views to deliver incredible dining and drinking experiences. You couldn’t find a better mix of retail and hospitality than Hitchcock Avenue or The Terrace. Excellent brunches and coffee will break up a trip down the street to pick up wine, shoes, books, homewares and everything in between.
Golfers have got it made with three of the top 30 public access courses in Australia woven into the dunes just outside town: Barwon Heads Golf Club and the two at Thirteenth Beach Golf Links. While the Barwon Heads Airport is the launching place for all manner of sky-high adventure: scenic flights, aerobatic adventures and skydiving with epic views of the coast. For family-friendly fun Adventure Park and Bellarine Adventure Golf are a short drive away in Wallington.
