Tee off with these golf spots in the region

Geelong and The Bellarine is well above par when it comes to golf. Of the dozen courses here, several rank in the top 100 courses across the Golf Australia’s GOLF Course Guide, Golf Australia Magazine and Golf Digest (have a look here).

You’ll be playing the course of champions when you hit a round at 13th Beach Golf Links at Barwon Heads and it’s home to the Vic Open, one of Australia’s leading golf events, held in February. If you’re looking for a driving range to work on your skills, visit The Range @ Curlewis Golf Club where balls are automatically teed-up after each shot.

Top golf spots

13th Beach Golf Links – Beach Course – Renowned course architect Tony Cashmore’s best work. Play where the champions play.

13th Beach Golf Links – Creek Course – Excellent presentation with wide fairways; large, interesting greens.

Barwon Heads Golf Club – A course reminiscent of famed Scottish links with undulating terrain.

Curlewis Golf Club – One of the most improved courses in this country during past decade with a spectacular new clubhouse. Well considered design changes.

Lonsdale Links – There is no other golf course like it. May well be the most entertaining course Australia-wide.

Portarlington Golf Club – Great combination of challenge and fun for players of all levels.

Queenscliff Golf Club – Built in 1907 on Swan Island – Australian Defence Force Land.

Queens Park Golf Club – An 18-hole course framed by the Barwon River.

Short game fun

Mini-golf more your style? Children and adults will enjoy Bellarine Adventure Golf. Choose from The Mill course or The Mountain course, both 18 holes and offering exciting games that weave in and around gardens, creeks and waterfalls. A few tricky water hazards and sand traps will keep players on their toes and a little bit of luck will complement whatever skills you’ve got.

The mini-golf at The Range @ Curlewis is another fantastic option.

Stay and Play

Needing a place to rest? Curlewis Golf Club has recently opened 60 beautifully designed rooms, all with balconies.

13th Beach Golf Lodges has luxurious and spacious lodges leading straight on to the greens; or book a room in the clubhouse at Barwon Heads Golf Club.

Or head to Barwon Heads Resort at 13th Beach Golf Links, where you can choose from 38 self-contained suite accommodation with many featuring views across the fairways.
